Maggie & Greg chose an August day for their summer wedding at the Wainwright House. Everyone knows I love this venue and you can see why. The atmosphere combines a lovely waterfront location with a gorgeous Chateau, and the light is to die for. There is also a wonderful mix of indoor and outdoor spaces. I think this wedding shows the true beauty of a summer event in Rye, NY. Maggie’s lace Monique L’huillier dress looks truly amazing on her as does Greg in his Theory tux. The Bridesmaids dresses are from Anthropology. The Flowers are by Jenny Seok of Green Wood Flowers. Invitations were from the Paper Source. the music at cocktail hour was from Maura Music and the reception tunes were from the DJs at Remixologists. And of course the delicious food and wedding cake was by Cornerstone Catering. Miana Jun was my wonderful second shooter.
Now let’s talk about photography. I admit I had a lot on my side already with the space, the day and the beautiful couple. But great photos are more than just a record of what’s there. I want my couples to be themselves and see themselves in the photos. The formal pictures start with some standard poses and then there is room to have some fun. With the day as it flows, I’m seeking the emotions, to catch an expression, a laugh or the love and joy in the faces of everybody. I think the images collected together create a cinematic flow that pulls you in and brings the day back, over and over again, each time you look at your wedding pictures.
